Nonlinear Time-Series Model for VBR Video Traffic
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, variable bit rate (VBR) H.261 encoded video traffic is modeled by a nonlinear time series process. A threshold autoregressive (TAR) process is of particular interest. The TAR model is comprised of a set of autoregressive (AR) processes that are switched according to the amplitude of bit rates of the time series. The TAR model is shown to capture accurately the statistical characteristics of multiplexed video sources. The buffer occupancy in a first-in first-out (FIFO) deterministic service queue using sources modeled by a TAR is compared with Markov chain based process and it is shown that a TAR model of lower complexity yields comparable results. Threshold Autoregressive Models for VBR MPEG Video Traces
In this paper variable bit rate VBR Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) coded full-motion video traffic is modeled by a nonlinear time-series process. The threshold autoregressive (TAR) process is of particular interest. The TAR model is comprised of a set of autoregressive (AR) processes that are switched between amplitude sub-regions. To model the dynamics of the switching between the sub-reg...

-Network traffic forecasting has many important role to play in the domain of network traffic congestion control, its management and network traffic engineering. Characterizing the traffic and modeling are necessary for efficient functioning of the network. It is very vital for any model to depict self similarity, heavy tailed distribution and long range dependence (LRD). Thus modeling of time ...
متن کاملA Virtual Queue Based Scheme To Support Real-Time Renegotiated VBR Video Streaming
Variable bit rate (VBR) video traffic poses a unique challenge on network resource allocation and management for future packet networks. RED-VBR, a renegotiated deterministic VBR scheme, is a well-known approach proposed to support delay-sensitive VBR video traffic. However, the original RED-VBR suffers some limitations, such as the difficulty of dimensioning of D-BIND traffic descriptors for r...

In this paper we study source modeling, queueing analysis and bandwidth allocation issues of VBR MPEG-2 video traffic in ATM networks. We propose a mini-source based discrete-time Markov modulated deterministic process (D-MMDP) to model the macro-frame smoothed VBR MPEG-2 traffic. It is shown that such a modeling technique is sufficiently accurate and simplies the involved queueing analysis for...

Modeling of video traffic has always been an important research area for the design, simulation, and performance analysis of packet video networks and Internet streaming. In this paper, we present a frame-level hybrid framework for modeling multi-layer VBR video traffic, in which the base layer is modeled using a combination of wavelet and time-domain methods and the enhancement layer is linear...
